Spiders Studio Reportedly Closing After 18 Years

The studio behind GreedFall and Steelrising is shutting down after failing to find a buyer during its parent company's insolvency proceedings. Spiders gave us some genuinely unique RPGs over nearly two decades.

This sucks. Spiders wasn't perfect, but they carved out a niche making AA RPGs with actual personality. GreedFall had colonial themes most studios wouldn't touch, and Steelrising's alternate history French Revolution setting was brilliant. We're losing another mid-budget studio that took creative risks.

Valve Fighting RAMaggedon to Restock Steam Deck

Valve says they're "working very hard" to get Steam Decks back in stock as the ongoing RAM shortage continues wreaking havoc. The company also promises to avoid similar supply issues with the upcoming Steam Machine.

The RAM shortage is hitting everything from phones to handhelds. At least Valve's being transparent about it instead of pretending demand just exploded overnight. The Steam Machine mention is interesting though. Sounds like they learned their lesson from the original Steam Machine disaster.

Resident Evil Requiem Locks New Mode Behind Completion

Next month's new mode for Resident Evil Requiem will require a completed save file to access. No casual players allowed.

Smart move. RE games work best when they reward players who actually finish them. The new game plus modes and bonus content always felt like proper rewards for surviving the horror. Too many games hand out everything upfront now.

Nintendo's Next Animated Movie Set for April 2028

Nintendo announced their follow-up animated film will hit theaters in April 2028. No details on which franchise gets the treatment, but they're clearly not slowing down after the Mario movies.

Two years is a reasonable gap between animated films. Nintendo's being smart about not oversaturating the market. My money's on either Zelda or Metroid getting the next movie treatment. Both have more cinematic potential than another Mario film.
